Tarsiers

Tarsier

Sproing!!

Tarsiers were named for their elongated tarsal region which is an adaptation for leaping.  Tarsius is the only genus; the species within it are T. syrichta, T. bancanus, and T. spectrum, and all of them are found in Southeast Asia.  They are nocturnal and primarily insectivorous although they do eat lizards as well.  They catch most of their prey on the ground and return to the trees to eat it.
