Computer Simulation of Jevan and Whitney's Future Kids

The pictures below were blended using a computer program that was co-designed by one of Whitney's anthropology professors at Washington University.  The program takes linear and angular measurements of the shapes of various physical features, such as the eyes and nose, from fossil skulls as well as living humans.  These measurements give a quantitative assessment of the facial characteristics of extinct hominid species such as Neanderthals, for comparison purposes.  This program can also be used to reconstruct what an extinct hominid might have looked like, by editing a photograph of a living human to fit the measurements of a fossil skull.  Reconstructions like these are often published in National Geographic articles.

Jevan and Whitney have used this software to combine their physical characteristics and predict what their future offspring might look like.  We can't guarantee much accuracy, but we can guarantee entertainment!
